Repair or replace a wall oven?
A wall oven typically lasts about 13–17 years. Whether a repair is worth it depends on what failed, what it costs compared with a new unit, and the condition of the rest of the appliance.
Wall ovens must fit an existing cabinet cutout, and replacement adds installation and sometimes carpentry, so repairs are worth doing much longer than on a freestanding range. Double and combination wall ovens raise the replacement cost further.
What to weigh
- Cabinet cutout fit for current models
- Single vs double or combination oven
- Part availability for older models
- Age and condition of the oven cavity and door
